Suomen Hyötytuuli and Bladefence renew their Spindurance blade maintenance contract

Finnish wind power producer Suomen Hyötytuuli and Bladefence have renewed their existing Spindurance blade maintenance contract for another three years.

The contract has been expanded to include the newer wind farms that Suomen Hyötytuuli has built in the past years. The contract now covers 83 wind turbines, including Vestas, Siemens and Nordex turbines both onshore and offshore.

Suomen Hyötytuuli Production Director Leena Hacklin comments: “Preventive maintenance lowers lifetime operational costs and risks of unexpected damages. Adequate blade inspections and maintenance are an important part of responsible wind farm operations.”

Bladefence Managing Director Kimmo Kohtamäki comments: “We are excited and honoured by the trust that Suomen Hyötytuuli is putting in Bladefence. Our long-term relationship is unique in this industry and enables both parties to plan and perform the best possible way, resulting in improved operational efficiency.”

Spindurance is a long-term blade maintenance program tailored to the customer’s needs and expectations. Within the contract, Bladefence systematically performs inspection, analysis, maintenance and repair of the blades. The focus is on pre-emptive actions in order to minimise the turbine downtime and to maximise its operational efficiency. An annual maintenance plan is created together with the customer, taking into account the site-specific requirements. The blades are regularly inspected, including the lightning protection system and drainage hole. Small wear and tear issues are repaired before they grow into larger and more expensive issues to repair.  All the work carried out is fully documented, enabling the customer to have detailed information on the condition of their assets throughout the years.
