Last week marked a significant milestone in Finland’s journey toward a greener future with the inauguration of the Pjelax Wind Farm, owned by Fortum and Helen Oy – and we we’re lucky enough to receive an invitation!
Set against the backdrop of a beautiful Finnish spring day, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. The centrepiece of the event, of course, were the 56 wind turbines themselves, with a capacity of 380 MW, one of which was accessible for visits. It drew a long queue of eager visitors, even though access was limited to the entrance level. The opportunity to get up close with one of the impressive structures was a highlight for many. Industry experts mingled with laymen, all sharing a common interest in this remarkable feat of engineering.
The turnout was impressive, with a few hundred people present at the peak of the event, making the atmosphere buzz with a palpable sense of achievement and optimism. The crowd enjoyed a live performance from the famous Finnish artist Jannika B, whose presence was a delightful surprise, adding a cultural touch to the celebration.
It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with previous acquaintances, customers, and other stakeholders in the wind industry. The event provided a platform to share recent developments and discuss the future of renewable energy in Finland.
