The owner of Bladefence wins the EY (Ernst & Young) Entrepreneur of the Year award in the Services Category

Janne Niska, the owner of Bladefence, has been named an EY Entrepreneur of the Year award winner in the Services Category in Finland.

Janne was nominated for the award based on his creative approach and innovative business solutions in managing the activities of his three companies: Bladefence, Janneniska and Pekkaniska, of which the latter two are leading Nordic companies providing aerial platform and crane rental services. The aerial platforms of Janneniska are utilised by Bladefence in the wind turbine blade inspections and repairs. The three companies employ 500 people in Europe.

425 Finnish companies participated in the competition, all of which had to meet the criteria of being market–leading businesses that are transforming the face of industry, employing more than 10 people and having an annual turnover of over 5 million euros. As Janne’s newest company, Bladefence has established its position as the provider of ground-breaking and high-quality services in the wind power sector. The company was founded in 2010 and since then, its focus has been on changing the common practice of reactive and expensive wind turbine blade repairs towards shared risks, preventive maintenance and fixed fees.

Recognised as one of the most prestigious business award programmes in the world, EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards are given to entrepreneurs who serve as inspiring examples of innovative vision and leadership. The competition was organised for the first time in the US in 1986. Today, the Entrepreneur of the Year Program spans more than 140 cities and 50 countries worldwide
